  you@yourdomain.com E-Mail Set Up
How to set it up:
  • Add your POP3 account in your e-mail client software (Outlook, Messenger, Pine, Eudora...etc) by choosing the add account, or edit account option.
  • Enter your username in the username space. If you don't know what your username is, its provided for you on the setup sheet you received when you signed up with Mtanet.
  • Enter your password in the password space. Please Note, certain POP3 email clients, like older versions of messenger, don't provide a space for your password during set up. Don't worry, the first time you click send/receive mail, you will be prompted for your password.
  • Enter the value "you@yourdomain.com" in the space provided for your email address. For example: If your domain is "widgets.com" and your vanity email address is joe@widgets.com, then enter "joe@widgets.com" in the email space.
  • Enter the value "mail.mtanet.net" in the space provided for incoming mail server.
  • If you connect to the Internet using OUR Dial-up Accessto use your vanity email address, enter the value "mail.mtanet.net" in the space provided for your outgoing (SMTP) mail server.
  • If you connect to the Internet using another ISP(Qwest, AT&T Broadband...etc) to use your vanity email address, enter the value of your ISP's outgoing (SMTP) server in the space provided for outgoing, (SMTP) server. Consult your ISP's support page for outgoing email settings.
  • At this point, you should be set up.

Known Issues:

  • I can't send email or get the error "Relaying Denied" or "Sorry, example.com isn't in my rcpt hosts file"
Solution: Make sure your outgoing (SMTP) server option is pointed to your ISP's outgoing mail server.
  • I can't send or receive my email, I get the error "Authentication failed"
Solution: Make sure your username and password settings are correct. Please note: the most common cause of this problem is confusing the FTP username and/or password with the E-MAIL username and/or password. Consult the setup sheet you received when you signed up with Mtanet.
